why join lecny?

LECNY offers professional development!

Teachers certified in New York State since February 2004 have to accumulate 175 hours of professional development every five years to maintain their professional certification. Encourage your new colleagues that teachers who attend the LECNY events can earn service credit hours of language-related professional development. Besides earning service credit hours, you'll learn the latest and greatest trends - as well as tried and true ones - about the profession of teaching languages.

LECNY offers networking!

As professionals, we all seek opportunities to continue growing, especially in our knowledge of language and culture. Our events are a wonderful place to gather with old friends and make new ones - all while discussing our passion for teaching language and culture.

LECNY offers student awards and teacher grants!

LECNY's fundraising efforts help us to honor outstanding students with our student scholarships. We also honor innovative and dedicated teachers the Teacher Classroom Grant. You must be a LECNY member to be considered for these awards.

LECNY keeps you informed!

LECNY maintains a website and sends e-newsletters throughout the school year to keep members informed of LECNY events and other events and topics of interest to language educators.

LECNY membership offers discounts at our events!

For the LECNY events that require a registration fee, members receive a discount over non-members.

A Year of LECNY Events. . .

September: Back to School Meeting
