Workshop that will showcase LOTE teachers from New York State that have successfully maintained or saved their language programs, or who have taken steps to do so which have been recognized. Participants to the conference will learn how to access resources and learn courses of action they can replicate in their own classrooms, districts and communities.

FREE LANGUAGE TUTORING
"After the Bell Program: Weekday Afternoons With a Purpose" is operated by the Jewish Community Center and located at the SPOT in Shoppingtown Mall. Students in grades 7-12 can get homework help, attend subject-specific tutoring sessions and have free access to computers and printers. It is free for participants due to a grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation. There may be a small fee for participants that require transportation. It begins on Wednesday, October 3. WHAT IS LECNY?
LECNY is a professional organization made up of language teachers Pre-K-16, administrators, and
post-secondary students within the seven New York counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. We strive to fulfill a number of initiatives including:

- Promoting the study of languages and cultures as outlined in the state and national standards.
- Serving all areas of language study including the Classics, Heritage languages, English to speakers of other languages, bilingual education, Native American languages and American Sign Language.
- Serving as a liaison to other professional and educational organizations
- Establishing constructive and progressive relationships with other professional organizations.
